The son of man suffers most his troubles because of his ego. The ego cannot choose between what is good and what is bad. It can choose, but it chooses what it thinks is good for itself, but is bad in fact. If you leave things to the whims of your ego, then you will never find goodness in it. The ego debases a person. Although, the ego thinks it will [make itself] be comfortable, it harms itself by itself.
