A MERCY FOR THE WORLDS
Tonight is the mawlud, the night that the Holy Prophet (SAW) honored by coming to this world almost 1500 years ago. At that time there were at most a few thousand people [in Makkah]. The whole world was in darkness, and very few people were on the right path. There were a few on the path, and those who followed them were also few. All of them [i.e., the rest] had deviated from the right path, and were following their own whims.
